Ammonium Nitrate solution preparation
We have designed many conventional neutralizers and Pipe Reactors for the synthesis of ammonium nitrate from week nitric acid and ammonia operating under vacuum and pressure.
Especially our proprietary Pipe Reactor technology offers the following main advantages:
- Safer operation thanks to the very short reaction time and no volume holdup of hot ammonium nitrate solution in the reaction area
- Ease of start-up and shut down operation due to the reactor simplicity and no volume holdup
For the concentration, the falling film evaporator is proposed for primary evaporation to 97% concentration and air-swept type up to 99.8%.
Ammonium Nitrate (AN) and Calcium Ammonium Nitrate (CAN) prilling
We have been involved in the design and commissioning of most of the porous or Low-Density Ammonium Nitrate (LoDAN) plants built in the last decades, worldwide.
The prilling process has been applied to give a product outstanding quality, which is chosen and preferred by large civil explosive companies in the world.
The same prilling process can be adapted for the production of high-density Ammonium Nitrate (AN) and Calcium Ammonium Nitrate (CAN).
The recently designed prilling tower is equipped with a prilling air recycling loop to achieve near-to-zero air pollution.
Ammonium nitrate (AN) and Calcium Ammonium Nitrate (CAN) Granulation
We have experience in the design and commissioning of Fluidized Bed Granulation, Fluidized Drum Granulation starting from ammonium nitrate melt at concentrations of 96 to 99.8%.
The granulation is promoted by successive layering ensuring the final granules with high physical properties.
The granulation operates at a recycle ratio as low as 1 to 1, leading to both lower investment and operating costs.
